From: graham.me@btinternet.com              I had a major problem with XP yesterday and couldn't recover so had to       reinstall.              I decided to install a new hard drive put XP on it and then connect my old       hard drive as a slave, by doing this I though I could just copy over       information from my old hard drive to my new one such a my documents etc but       when I click on my name in Documents and Settings and then my documents it       says access denied. I did have to log in on my old setup so assume this is       something to do with it but how do I access my old hard drives documents and       stop it saying access denied? How can this old slave drive be protected, is       my new version of windows on my new drive doing this?              One more thing please, I use Outlook Express and was hoping I would recover       at least my email address book and copy it over but where is it kept? I also       have loads of 'saved' emails is there anyway I can copy these over to       outlook Express on my new drive? I tried running OE from my old drive but       it just opens up the newly installed version for some reason?              Guys I am pulling my hair out here, I guess many of you know what a       nightmare a new install is and I was so hoping to recover my old documents       by doing this.              Any help would be really appreciated.              Thanks              Graham.              P.S. I have cross posted this to two other groups, sorry but I am desperate       for help to get into my old documents.              P.P.S How do I turn off the annoying error bleep coming from my PC base, it       didn't do it before?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
