     Of all the functions DVDRipper offers, I assume the one that might solve   
     my problem would be the DVD->AV function.   
       I also assume (possibly wrongly) that the output would be the   
       equivalent of the camcorder playback stream.   
      
     In which case, would Windows Movie Maker be able to pick that up as a   
     valid input?  (If not, perhaps some other program?)
