   Nothing wrong with Compaq but the "upgrade path"; there pretty much   
   isn't one.  Many standard parts don't fit.   
      Goes back to the original patent war with IBM ~1982 and Compaq's   
   "alternative suppliers" dropping out of the market.   
      IBM lost the "too-fundamental" patent cases, and White Boxes used   
   the standard parts.
