   Anything that pushes a system into paging makes it crawl!  Disc is vastly   
   slower than   
   memory.  As you get more and more things (programmes, services, etc) you   
   exceed   
   your memory limit and paging starts.  I may be wrong, but running XP with   
   all the   
   latest patches in <2Gb of memory is a good way to fit in a large number of   
   cups of   
   coffee!   
      
   I recently upgraded an office full of machines from 1Gb to 4Gb (though   
   23-bit XP   
   can only use 3 of these), and the staff are a great deal happier.   
      
   (Remember: the faster your computer is, the longer you have to wait for it .   
   . . !
