   The files can be burned to DVD if you wish...   
   they'd only be needed in the unlikely event that you'd have to uninstall   
   an update...but it seems you must be having some other problem. The   
   Windows updates files should not take anywhere near 8 gigs of space   
   I don't think I've even seen a machine where they even take 1 gig   
      
   Are you looking at something else perhaps?   
      
   System Restore is usually the culprit for "unknown" free space   
   "dissapearance"...by default it's set at 12% and may be safely reduced   
   to 3  or
