   Are his emails in text and most others you receive in html?  I also find   
   that unless I hit enter right after the end of a url in a text file (so   
   that it knows where the line break is) that it will sense it is a link   
   and underline/highlight it as blue.  Maybe your friend just needs to hit   
   enter at the end of his url lines.
