It appears to me that when OE receives an email in straight text
format, and it encounters a URL, it's smart enough to make it
clickable. When it receives an email in HTML format, a URL must be
properly embedded in the HTML (with anchor tags) for it to be
clickable. If it's just pasted into the text of the message, it's not
clickable. So your mate would have to use the "Insert Hyperlink" button
in Yahoo's composing window in order for him to send you clickable
   links.

When you forward an HTML message, OE seems to reformat the content to
make the whole thing an HTML message, so all URLs get formatted with
   anchor tags at that point.
