The OS may need drivers to       enable the USB port, after which the OS will recognize the drive when       it's plugged in.              You need to check with the manufacturer of the drive to see if they       have anything special to offer.              You neglect to mention any pertinent information, such as what OS       you're using or what brand and model of USB drive, or what kind of       computer.
