    It's been  at least a week since I last tried to use the hard drives   
   via USB port and they were never found by the computer.   
      Then yesterday, with none of them around, the computer says   
   it "found new hardware". This now happens on each reboot. I have to   
   delete the message 6 or 7 times to stop it. If I indicate "install",   
   it shows a sketch of something like a hard drive and calls it "generic   
   volume". If I proceed with the automatic install, it "can't find the   
   software" --if I try the other option, I get a "the software you're   
   trying to install isn't Windows approved"  ( ands I'm not trying to   
   use any software!). All this with no "new hardware" attached in the   
   past week !!!!
