   Try updating your audio hardware drivers.  If you use a sound card   
   rather than onboard sound, it may be worth trying it in another   
   slot (sometimes the IRQ allocated to a slot is shared with other   
   devices on the motherboard which don't interact well with sound   
   cards.)
