   Mr. Pounder:

I will do a system restore if other fixes do not work. I tried to
download a driver--remember I'm technologically inept on my good
days-- and through the Microsoft website after entering my computer's
Service Tag, was invited to Install "Soundmax".

To me that sounds like (no pun intended) more than a Driver. I will
test everything soon and then perhaps try the System Resore tomorrow.

   Thanks for your input...

   Michael

I am a not wonderful with computers myself. I don't think system restore can
hurt you, even though a lot of people say that viruses are hiding in there.
Hmmmm, I have never heard of Soundmax. I would kick it off and see what
   happens.
   Good luck.
