   Of course you can, but first things first.   
   Make sure the laptop has Windows XP drivers.   
   Otherwise, you'll have to use Windows Vista/7/8.   
      
   Or...   
   You can setup a dual-boot system.   
      
   Get EasyBCD (need .NET framework), you'll need it later for boot manager   
   re-setup.   
      
   Resize the existing partition to make space for Windows XP partition.   
      
   Create a new PRIMARY partition for Windows XP.   
      
   Install Windows XP into that new empty partition.   
      
   When done, from Windows XP, use EasyBCD to restore Windows Vista/7/8 boot   
   manager, and add Windows XP boot entry.   
      
   Note: you may need the Windows XP CD media.
