Or is that just       > asking for a messed up computrer with nothing working??       > Yeah I know it's dumb but Win 8 is simply not acceptable!              There's a good chance that a brand new laptop that's been made with       Windows 8 in mind will not have XP drivers available, which means that       XP might not install, or might not be able to fully address all       hardware features. Do your homework.              If it were me, I'd run a thorough disk integrity checking utility, and       if the disk were failing, as it sounds, I'd replace it.              You better do something quick, though - your symptoms imply a hard disk       that's ready to go catastrophically.
