   Well, they do . . .  in a backhanded sort of way:  New software after   
   support for the old OS ends won't install or run on the old OS, only   
   the new. Of course, ALL software vendors do this, too. Have to do it,   
   really.  Eventually, you have to upgrade to the supported OS, if you   
   need to run the newer software.  What Microsoft wants.
