   Most of the machine I worked on used an XP_slipstreamed_Sp3 image.   
      
      
   Occasionally I'd get machines that just needed to be updated to SP3 and   
   all else was OK.   
      
      
   Logic would dictate that if the machine worked fine with SP2 and it was   
   upgraded to Sp3 and became problematic...that Sp3 caused the problem. I   
   saw that happen once and I certainly have seen others posting to Usenet   
   that Sp3 caused a problem.   
      
      
   However it's been my experience that Sp3 works fine 99.9% +   
      
      
      
   Anyway, I hope the OP tests his H/W  , I've seen problems like he's   
   experienced on hard drives that have read/write errors.
