|    XP upgrade ?    |

From: philo@privacy.net              I was recently asked to upgrade an XP Media Center 2005 machine to Win7.                     I told the owner there is no direct route...plus due to the older H/W       would not really be worth it. I built the guy a new machine and all is well.                     However since he did not want the old machine I thought I'd experiment       and see if it could be upgraded to Vista.                     Per Microsoft, Media Center 2005 should be upgradeable to Vista Home       Basic or Ultimate.                     I tried both, but the upgrade option was not available, the message was       that the installer could not find the upgrade parameters and a clean       install is the only option.                     Just a matter of curiosity.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
