I put another drive in and installed Win7 no problems.

It's got 2 gigs of RAM and is a dual core 3ghz cpu

My question was one of curiosity and that was to see if I could upgrade
   Media Center to Vista.

According the Microsoft's website, Windows Media Center 2005 is
upgradeable to Vista Home Premium or Ultimate...but when I tried to
upgrade from within a running OS...the upgrade option was not available.

Again, I was doing this just as an experiment ...not because I need to.
