Jonathon              If it can boot from a CD but can't from a newly (re)installed Windows, then       the harddisk may have been worn out. In this case, harddisk performance will       suffer and there may be bad sectors already marked if the harddisk was       reformatted using full format.              If booting from the CD and reinstalling Windows can't even go smoothly, RAM       modules are the first suspect.
