   Well, it's not for a lack of trying - especially on the part of Saudi   
   Arabia.   
   The Arab world can never gain the status of Israel, because the old   
   testament promises the land to Jews, not Arabs, and American fundamentalist   
   christians (who wield considerable political power, especially now) consider   
   it imperative that the land of Israel remain in the hands of the jews, as   
   that is a requirement for Armageddon.
