   That can be interesting.  It used to remind me of the opening sequence of   
   the TV show "Night Gallery." :-)

   I've had the sense of nearly transparent, duplicate hands separating from   
   my real ones, but I can't recall ever having a jumping effect.   
      
   Have you ever had the falling-through-the-bed feeling?  That one can be   
   startling. :-)
