   Isn't he just saying to *imagine* all this?  Even though it isn't   
   literally true, there's no reason why imagining it couldn't act as an   
   effective suggestion aid for producing hypnagogic imagery.  In fact it's   
   possible to do cool things by imagining that your eyes are projectors --   
   with your eyes open, you can create hypnagogic images that seem to be   
   floating in the air or projected on the walls.  I used to have a great   
   time with that when I was a kid.
