I've been using a binaural beats program called sbagen to induce theta in
an attempt to learn something similar, some success; but not for more than
a few seconds at a time.
Early days tho'.

I have a friend who sees hypnogogic hallucinations when she's tired.
Nothing major; just barely glimpsed movement around the edges of her
visual field mostly, and sometimes things would "emerge and scuttle" from
particularly dark shadows.
Distracting when you're driving apparently. :-o

I think they fell out through the speaker grille when I turned it about
