From: kiwi@ing.notin.aus              In article <1117323639.315443.186250@g43g2000cwa.googlegroups.com>,       keithalangilbert@gmail.com says...       >       >I can't speak to others' claims.       >I personally recall 2 spontaneous OBE's, and one combination       >lucid-dream, false awakening, OBE.       >Also, when I was about 17 to 19 I had 6 experiences that I recorded as       >OBE's, however they were brought on by drug use, so most people       >discount them as "hallucinations."       >When I was a child, of course, I had numerous combo "half LD, half       >OBE's," as I suspect most people have, though the memories get thinner       >as time progresses...       >When I was a teenager I ate some magic-mushrooms, and while I was       >waiting for the effect, I got nauseous. I was finally able to throw       >up, and I thought I would just go to sleep. I laid down thinking, that       >was a big waste of money.       >I wokeup awhile later, and I felt extremely light-weight. I was able       >to jump around my room with incredible balance and quickness, and I       >chalked it up to the effects of the mushrooms. I walked over to my       >dresser, and looked at some of the knick-knacks I had sitting on top of       >it, and some of it looked odd, i.e. almost see-thru. I reached out to       >pick up an item and my hand went thru it. I attributed it to       >depth-perception issues because of the drug.       >I walked over to the wall where I had several posters and pictures       >hanging, and some of the imagery was off, heiroglyphics where it should       >be English, etc. I then thought I was in a lucid dream. I looked over       >at my bed, and saw a dark shape bunched-up in my bed, so I got a little       >scared, and "floated/walked" over to see what it was.       >When I got closer I saw it was my body, and I freaked out a little more       >(I hadn't yet read about OBE's or astral travel, etc), lost my balance,       >and floated up to the ceiling.       >I was disoriented beyond what I was ready to deal with, and wokeup.       >That one experience still stands out as one of the most vivid, and it       >set me on a journey to read and experience as much as I could about       >these phenomona.       >I'm 33 now, and while I still can't consciously initiate OBE's at will,       >I no longer get frightened at the onset of sleep paralysis or even the       >vibrations. I also feel very at peace with the idea that I am more       >than my body, and sense that there's much more to reincarnation than       >just living and dying and trying to prevent repeating past       >mistakes...MUCH MORE!       >              Thanks for your input I appreciate it. I did read a book which lists all       the different kinds of OOBEs, in that some just spontaneously happen with       certain people.       In recent times, OOBEs happening because of near death experiences,       number significantly though not every near death, have conscious       memories.              I am reading into the Billy Meier material, and there is a lot of       information he's releasing. I don't think you should just read the       negative critical material only, as they tend to focus on the       orthodox view of regarding him as a hoax first, without giving the       evidence a decent look.       He's not into making money from the material he releases, nor       building an empire of any kind. His spiritual center seems to be just       that, not like others of the Sali Baba variety.              Harvey              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
