   Technically speaking, GW / the commander in chief / *is* the head of   
   the troops.  If you support the body but not the brain (and I use that   
   term here VERY loosely!) you are supporting a dead (or mindless)   
   corpse.  I believe that, if you want the soldiers to know you care   
   about them, but not about their mission, then what you should offer is   
   sympathy, rather than support.
