   Think about them as people who are talking to you, try to respond and   
   interact with them as such, and you can end up in a dream sequence in   
   which people are talking to you.  It's like a building up a dream from   
   one hallucinated sense by gradually adding the rest to go with it so that   
   you can see things, touch things, move around, etc.
