       Yes you can manifest in someone else's body. It's technically a   
   possession. There are certain rules regarding possessions, but I'm not sure   
   how they would apply to someone from this plane possessing someone else from   
   this plane. You don't have to completely cut yourself off to do it either.   
   And the other person can be completely in their body at the time. It can   
   happen accidentally through channeling at times too.   
       The body and the astral body are never really separated though (the mind   
   is arguably part of the physical body and not the astral body). They always   
   keep some connection between them. At death that connection is severed, but   
   the personality, memories, ect. from that lifetime do carry on in a way with   
   the astral body, and can later be accessed.
