   Not really.   
      
   Science is a methodology specifically invented to deepen our understanding   
   of how the universe works.  All of its salient characteristics were   
   designed to further that aim.   
      
   It was specifically _not_ a response to religion; nor does it have   
   sufficient in common with a religion that you can describe it as such.
