   The "sceptical" explanation is that the experience is little more than a   
   form of hallucination, and that sometimes the scene, crafted as it is from   
   memory and imagination, is wrong.   
      
   There are a number of "mystical" explanations, none of which are even   
   faintly plausible, IMO.
