   Hi Mike,

Hoping I'm catching you in time. Please ask your questions. Perhaps your
interest might revive this once thriving group.

Monroe was also my first book - but it sounded a bit odd for me. Still, I
think those books are collectors items.

Many of the sensations he describes are similar to my experiences. His
techniques are exactly that - "His" techniques.

It is best to develop your own and get familiar with the experience. For
instance, I use solid rubber earplugs. relax, look inward, and watch the
images that flow across my vision until I notice the falling feeling that
usually wakes people up with a jolt. I've learned to get past that fear of
falling and heavy vibrations, loud sounds, or both, and I know I've made a
shift in consciousness. Still, it is good to test with a jump in the air to
make sure you aren't about to fly through a window in your physical body...

I know one can reach an altered state of consciousness without drugs, but I
would hesitate to say that you will see the physical as it really is.
Obviously, Monroe had many fuzzy efforts and eventually seemed to give up on
the desire to see the location near his physical body - as did I.

Just the act of reading on this stuff will help you maintain focus as you
   fall asleep. Good luck!

Ask more questions, you will get more answers...
