From: dicksilk@gmail.com              why not?              Alt.newsgroups used to be *extremely* popular, until AOL came into existence,       in the mid-to-late '80s. That was the first exodus. Then high speed internet       / broadband came into existence, and that was the second exodus. When myspace       and facebook broke        onto the scene, that pretty much nailed the third exodus -- now, Google has       incorporated "google groups" into its toolbox, so *maybe* the readership /       number of live posters *might* return, like salmon spawning upstream. The       long & the short of it --        more readers / posters yields a better experience.              alt.dreams.sexual, for instance, was completely overrun by spammers. I tried       cleaning out a number of them / reporting, but it was too much for one person.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
