   Have you even read "On the Origin of Species"?  As for Gregor Mendel,   
   Darwin never read the manuscript that Mendel sent to him?  What's your   
   point??  Mendel's work relied a lot on statistical methods and the   
   biologists of the day, Darwin included, were not yet well versed in   
   statistical analysis.
