   Charles Darwin was the principle originator "of the theory of evolution   
   by natural selection"; that's what he is remember for and not his wrong   
   idea of pangenesis, which is "a theory of inheritance proposed by   
   Charles Darwin in 1868" (note the date) and "was eventually replaced by   
   germ plasm theory and then chromosomal theories of inheritance, as   
   biologists shifted away from the idea of acquired characteristics."
