Yes, they did. They were descendants of a perfectly constructed being, and so
their descendants were from the same stock.

They deteriorated genetically over time due to the fall of Adam and as a
consequence of sin entering this world. That is the results of the Evil one
who said “I will be as God” and he is the source of all that is bad upon
this earth, sickness, disease, the flaws of mankind, etc. Even today many
incestuous relationship produce viable human beings, and also those that have
had distinctive flaws or maladies will transmit them to their heirs. In the
cases here in America there are “tribes” of peoples like say the Amish
and other similar people, who have distinctive characteristics that lead to
physical maladies, problems, that they cannot escape because in effect they
show the signs of incestuous effects. The tribes of many peoples who are not
bound together because of beliefs marry in large part with peoples from other
tribes, for various reasons, and in do doing introduce ‘fresh blood’ into
   their tribe.

   > The negative results in incestuous
   > offspring is well known. So, if the tale were true, we probably
   > wouldn't exist. We would have gotten so bad that humans would have
   > died out.

We all are a result of these things. So much so that certain maladies will
occur that are distinctive enough that names are given them which are based
on the genes of a female when impregnated by a male with certain genes the
result of which a child will be born with certain ‘defects’ the most
serious or troubling of which have been identified and a geneticist while
tell you that somewhere in your bloodline that you two were directly related.
While it may not affect all your future children the probabilities of it are
   there.

For that reason to ensure ones offspring will have no issues is to have a
provable genealogy, one not based on hearsay or hopes trying to be tied to
persons of note, as well as a through genetic and DNA search on both parties,
all cross linked as much as possible to see the possible variants in order to
ensure a high likelihood on ’normal’ children with intelligence and the
ability to reason. The cost of doing so is rather high so most people do not
have the means to do so and they take their chances, especially the young,
who are the most likely to overlook signs that they should have seen. This is
why reasonable parents choosing the mates is not a bad thing, unless they do
so for selfish self promoting reasons.

I’d bet that 90% of the civilized world is currently able to function as a
hunter-gatherer in these days. Plus it is obvious given the current chaos
that is so prevalent these days that many are devoid of intelligence.
