   If there's "Intelligent" species out there, most would have to be

   Now let's imagine a species without conflict -- no war!   
      
   Great but, wars have advanced us further & faster than anything   
   else in existence. It's been one steady stream of Innovation vs.   
   Countermeasure for millennia now...   
      
      ...do the Google on "Medical Advances Made During Vietnam War."   
      
   Medical advances. And then there's other advances, like night   
   vision systems...   
      
   Microwave ovens? Direct result of WWII and RADAR development...   
      
   Without war, I could conservatively state that you'd have to   
   erase centuries of human advancement, and probably more like an   
   entire millennia, at the very least.   
      
   So if a species had the exact same intellectual CAPACITY as us,   
   but didn't engage in war, they're likely well behind us in   
   technology, even if they're older.
