From: oldernow@dev.null              Interesting to be sitting in a nineth floor casino hotel room       overlooking the town we lived in for a decade and a half, until       just a few months ago.              It's a strange little town (locals say it's a "city"..) on the       shore of one of the Great Lakes.              The locals are mostly proverbial yokels: charming in ways, but       mostly not in danger of bursting any intelligence mains.              We'll be in this area a couple more days in an AirBnb rental in       connection with a music performance somewhat locally. We'll eat       and drink with friends tonight, then family will be coming this way       for an event for one of the grandchildren. The weather forecast is       looking perfect for such.              What's any of that got to do with philosophy?              Oh, not at all on the surface. And yet so much of my current beliefs       about the nature of reality got their conceptual momentum through       readings while living here.              Does the history of one's personal philosophy development count,       here?              The leaning became mostly so-called "advaita", aka "non-duality".       Words attribute to Sri Ramana Maharshi played a significant role.       But there's much available alone such lines.              --       oldernow       xyz001 at nym.hush.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
