From: oldernow@dev.null              The casino hotel stay morphed to an "AirBnb" rental. We got set       up there, then went out with friends all afternoon and through       dinner. A fair amount of ethanol made it to braincells thirsty for       a good time, but spaced out fairly intelligently, and accompanied       by water such that I've no hint of a hangover.              That said, it snowed last night, and there's no shovel I can see       accessible save for the fireplace ashes shovel. I texted additional       family arriving today to bring a shovel if they hadn't yet departed.              I never cease to be amazed by how quickly this existence rains       Murphy's Law....              My computer no longer had internet access despite still being       connected to the router, and the oven light was flashing, so I think       the power went out sometime last night. Restarting the router did the       trick. But the heating system also keeps reverting to some "hold"       setting that's not really warm enough given there was no heat for       however long during the power outage, and I've tried everything on       the thermostat's settings to rectify the situation. So I imagine       the property owner has some setting in place that keeps guests from       getting too crazy with the temperature.              Maybe my wife can figure it out, but she'll not be up for a while       given she had trouble falling asleep last night - which had the       happy side-effect of her being interested in.. um... you know....              Anyway... what the frick is it about this existence that demands       Murphy's unending presence? Between that and entropy, the effort to       persist in this dream that seems more like a nightmare can quickly       feel greater than the returns.              --       oldernow       xyz001 at nym.hush.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
