I run a home cooked backup script with ssh, rsync, tor and hardlinks on
the server to save space. The server is an old laptop (which is great,
since I get UPS "for free") and everytime I buy a new laptop, I just
copy the latest backup over, including dot-files and I'm about 99%
   there.

But, like you say, I tend to forget the 99% tweaks and some of them I
don't hit until like 2 weeks in, so then it's back to the manual again
   until I remember what I did. ;)

Let me know if you want the script. It has no license at all and you're
free to build a billion dollar business on it (good luck!) and the only
requirement is to give me 1 positive thought. ;)
