   To be fair to the quote-everything brigade, from their point of view it   
   looks like the standard etiquette, and that it is inconvenient to have   
   to look at the previous article for context. And that servers may only   
   store articles for a short period. (The server I am using goes back over   
   a year for this group.)   
      
   With Gnus I just press ^ for the previous article although I can't do   
   that when typing a new one, I have to switch buffers first.   
      
   Here in England, car drivers consider cyclists a nuisance because they   
   hold up the traffic by moving slowly around parked cars, whereas   
   cyclists consider car drivers a nuisance because they hold up the   
   traffic by leaving parked cars at the side of the road.
