From: oldernow@dev.null              What is this "self"-related nonsense this "oldernow"       nutcase is constantly yapping about?              Well, most importantly, it's *not* information whose       "knowing" - i.e. remembering/repeating mentally -       constitutes some sort of "realization", "enlightenment",       "transcendence", etc.              In fact, "knowing" is the *enemy* of the sudden realization       of one's bona fide ineffable nature. "Mind" is *always*       identified as chief manifestation of The Problem by every       teaching worth bothering with.              The point of any teaching worth bothering with isn't       to become committed to memory (an aspect of "mind"),       and then repeated/recited on occasion. Rather, the       point of worthwhile teaching is to trick mind into       its de-emphasis en route to *absence*, because the       only impediment to realizing our ineffable nature       is the wall/crust/layer/barrier of conceptuality /       aboutness-in-words. It seems the right arrangements of       words - which differ from mind to mind - can somehow       trigger mind abeyance. And when that happens, it's       suddenly obvious there's nothing to "know", that       "knowing"/mind is *itself* the problem.              Not that mind's word/"knowing" idolatry can't return. But       once you taste its absence, the way back seems that much       easier to find and invoke.              So.... there's no "truth" to be "known". But do make haste       to find the incantation(s) that trigger "your" mind's       absence such that it's obvious Truth is your basis/nature,       not something to be known by the imposter also known as       "mind"....              --       oldernow       xyz001 at nym.hush.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
