|    The day was unfolding just fine and then    |

From: oldernow@dev.null              And then it started raining while I was hand-skimming the       pool, so I put that away, walked from the backyard through       the garage, and noticed it was suddenly a deluge... so I       "busted a hump" to get to the car, but wasn't sufficiently       careful when ducking into it, as I was still pulling the       car door open.              I managed to come down hard upon the stop of the door       with the upper part of my left cheek. Another half inch,       and I suspect I'd be down to one eye.              So, it bled a little, but mostly stopped after holding a       cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol to it.              More notably, it swelled up "like a motherfucker". So I       held a soaked towel containing ice to it on and off for       as much as I could take.              But now the area from the inner corner of the eye socket,       and coming down about an inch at an angle appears to be       a classic "shiner".              While areas of the lingering puffiness hurt to press       semi-hard, it's not feeling like broken/cracked bone kind       of pain. So, since I've little faith in people "practicing"       medicine, I guess I just need to wait it out.              My wife is out with a daughter. She's seen it already, but       I can imagine her insisting I be seen after she gets home,       because she wants to see a doctor for trifles all the time.              And you wanna know the worst part? I *still* don't know       what a *gaylord* was/is! :-)              --       oldernow       xyz001 at nym.hush.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
