It's not just liberals as conservatives feel the same.
FWIW I too have some points in common with liberals as well.
It's why i don't consider myself a right wing, FoxNews, conservative.

   Is that number really high?
I'm mixed on the death penalty but there are so many, many safety nets in place
   that are mistakes being made?

Regarding crime, the only thing the bad guys understand is tough consequences
   for
their action and little to no chance of revolving door prosecution which is
   what NYC
   currently has.

Do the crime, get your day in court and do the time and that time should align
with the seriousness of the crime.
Enacting policies like "steal less that $1000 in merchandise and you won't be
prosecuted are ludicrous and one reason why you see stores boarding up and
   leaving
places like NYC and CA. Even big chains are following along.

The bad guys will flock to places like the above because they know that even
   if they
do manage to get caught, they will be in and out in short time.
Look at how many horrific crimes are being committed by perps who have long
   rap sheets
because liberal judges keep releasing them.
Something is in the news almost every day.

There was a study done in NYC where it was determined that the majority of
   serious
crimes were being committed by the same group of perps and the reason is that
they don't get prosecuted due to an AG/DA and judges who are soft on them.

Central Park Five were coerced by the NYPD and because they weren't the
   sharpest
set of knives in the drawer, they said stupid things under pressure.
No question about it, however I lived in NYC during that time and what evidence
was released was all over the papers and local news so people took it as
   gospel.
It was only years later that the truth came out.
   Horrible?
   Of course.
Dirty cops and a justice/political system that was being pressured to find the
   perps.
The case of Abner Louima was another injustice.
The death of Eric Garner for selling lucy's is another travesty.
It happens but in the scheme of things, considering how many calls the NYPD get
it's not even a blip on the radar screen.
And for the most part, the justice system works.

The rich and powerful live by a different set of rules as has been the case
   since the beginning of time.
White collar crime is rampant these days and the elite take car of their own.
   Do I like it?
Of course not, but dwelling on it when the streets are unsafe is a waste of
   time
and it's actually a tactic the left uses to gin up the far left voters.
It's the old "look at that republican over there who makes more money in
an hour than you make in a year" tactic.

   Sure it sucks.
Just because someone like Madoff didn't kill anyone doesn't mean that he
   didn't have
a hand in destroying innocent, trusting people's lives.

White collar crime is unfortunately buried in most cases. It bores the viewers
   who
would rather hear a story of a woman burned alive or such. Sick, I know, but
   true.

   > Basically, America is the land of the free and the home of the brave.
   > If you're brave enough, shouldn't you feel free to commit crime?

   Of course not.
But some people actually believe that they can and places like NYC encourage
   it.
