   That's odd, since (despite the name) the New York Times Bestseller List   
   is not based on sales. It is, and always has been, a list of editor   
   picks. They pick the books they believe will sell well, and they've been   
   tricked a couple of times.   
      
   I would expect politicians in the national theater to know that.
