From: Barking@The.Moon               There is a direct correlation between employment deprivation as applied       to felons, and the extent of economic depression in the communities where       they are forced to live. This feeds back to create an increase in crime and       the whole thing spirals out of control like an undamped mechanical       oscillator until you have a full blown un-fixable ghetto.               We have seen this happen in many communities. The act of intentionally,       willfully and knowingly contributing to this process is essentially       destruction of civilization, communities, and human habitat. To attack the       very economic structure upon which a modern life is built is no different       than any other act of terrorism.               Denying fundamental resources required by communities or individuals,       resources neccesary for human survival, is the primary objective of any       terrorist act.               Knowing this, one must naturally ask, how is employment deprivation any       different than an anthrax attack, or even using passenger aircraft as       missiles ? All of these things seem to accomplish the same net result, the       death and destruction of vast tracts of human life.               Suppose you had a few dogs and cats. You loved your cats, but you hated       the dogs. After a while you get tired of feeding your dogs, and instead you       simply give all of their food to the cats. The dogs get nothing. Soon, your       dogs are starving to death, while your cats are all building new homes for       themselves out in the suburbs. But, are you not a criminal for mistreating       the dogs ? If this story were real, you would be going to jail for       mistreating your animals.        Why then do we treat human beings in this exact same fashion ? If it       would be a felony to treat a dog that way, how can it possibly be OK to do       this to humans ? This is the extent of the hatred toward the modern ex-con.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
