From: Barking@The.Moon               When I learned that Mastercraft was a member of the WMC, a Lobby in       Madison which is supporting legislation which would effectively ban       employment for all convicted felons in he state of Wisconsin, my heart was       truly saddened.               This is an industry which produces cabinetry and other wood products. An       industry which sell it's products to the general public, many of them       felons. Many of their own customers would be banned from working at the       place. Many of their own customers would be denied, categorically, an       opportunity to support themselves through gainful employment, many of these       rejected applicants returning to a life of subsistence on government or       others, or perhaps even returning to crime or prison.               It does seem sensible that a factory where the primary activity is       woodworking would be an ideal place for former offenders. After all, you       would'nt want htem working at the day care center, and you wouldnt want them       at the pharmacy. Of all the places where they might concievably fit in well,       this would be one of those places. But it seems that Mastercraft has shut       their doors to felons. It's a sad day for Rice Lake. These policies do not       make crime go away, and it does not make criminals go away either.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
