From: Barking@The.Moon               When I learned that Snap-On was a member of WMC, a lobby in Madison       which supports AB 353, my heart was truly saddened. To think that Snap-On       would support a bill that would close it's doors permanently to all felons       is discouraging and depressing to say the very least.               Snap-On tools are so widely used that it is very probably that %40 to       %60 of their customers are felons and ex-cons, or others who are closely       affected by prison through family ties etc. It is extremely discouraging to       think that Snap-On would close it's doors to all felons. It is my sincere       hope that this is not the case. Snap-On could benefit enormously from the       loyalty of felons who are truly grateful for a job.               It is already widely known that doors are slammed tightly shut when it       comes to employment of felons. It is nearly impossible for a felon to find a       job in Milwaukee, and yet there are many, many jobs available. What will       this do to our economy and the need for hand tools to have a huge class of       unemployed ghetto dwellers ?               I call upon Snap-On to recall the work ethic that Milwaukee is famous       for, to understand that the purpose of industry has always been greater than       simply makling money - but also educating people in that ethic and refining       the human spirit through work. I call upon Snap-On Corp to answer that       higher purpose and to keep their doors open to former felons who would       reform themselves.               Nobody has sued you for being denied employment due to a criminal       record, despite the FEA. No harm has come to you from this law, but how much       harm has come to the community from felons remaining unemployed ?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
