   US Supreme Court held that the Constitution does not protect   
   prisoners from execution even if there is new evidence of innocence.   
   Chief Justice Rehnquist wrote the opinion, which rejected federal   
   protections because of "the very disruptive effect that   
   entertaining claims of actual innocence would have on the need   
   for finality in capital cases."
