Used to have one. If you can swing it, I would highly recommend one. The
breech mechanism is unique, construction is VERY rugged but does not weigh a
ton, and the sights make sense. Front and rear sights are both circles which
can be centered easily by eye for much greater accuracy. The front sight on
the M16 is like two peckers face to face - difficult to center it inside a
   rear peep sight.

It has it's advantages, but the main advantage of this weapon is that the
government can easily destroy millions of these weapons very rapidly if it
wants to. All you need to do is place them flat out on the parade deck and
drive a duce&1/2 over them. After an hour or so you will have millions of
pounds of powdered M16. Even the body of the damn thing, cast fucking
   aluminum, easily destroyable.

You could drive a tank over an M1 and it would probably still fire.
