From: qqqq@7600.net              MSNBC ran a rehash of the Susan Smith case (rolled her       car into the lake, drowning her two young boys) over       the weekend to fill mid-day airtime. It re-told the       sordid details, but what I found interesting was the       footage of her ex-husband, the boys' father. He waxed       quite eloquent about what an evil woman she was, because       of what she had taken from him - seeing his childrens'       first day of school, playing ball with them, seeing them       grow up, etc. Not ONCE did he seem to recognize or care       that her principal crime was taking, _from__the__kids_,       the entire rest of their own lives. Apparently to him,       kids exist only for the satisfaction they provide for       their parents.              How widespread is this sort of thinking? Or do I just       not understand it because I don't have kids? If so, I'm       glad I don't, because I'd really hate to buy in to thinking       of another person that way.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
