   Different departments call it different things. Usually it's called unarmed   
   combat tactics, or "Police Karate", etc.. Instructors demonstrate restraint   
   and disarming techniques.   
      
   It's sometimes taught at the academy, sometimes after being hired by the   
   department, sometimes both.

   Not really. Also, you're comparing a secure facility with limited   
   availability on dangerous weapons with a "street" situation, where   
   EVERYTHING is available. It's 100% inaccurate for comparison.
