It's not the News Server but the web frontend.
I see no need to change it because user can set what ever user wants.
User can set anything and if user is unexp with usenet and only sets
Name without the default appends: .

How do you know if I (or user itself) can or can not create a mailbox?
default is "noreply@" which is obviously not a mailbox...
but if you want to see pugleaf.invalid instead so it will be.
